MatrixSpace is developing Radio Frequency (RF) communications and radar capabilities to complement their autonomous drone systems. MatrixSpace engineers have created radio prototypes that are being operated in conjunction with a software defined radio (SDR) platform. We are looking for RF Engineers to be part of the team designing, testing, and optimizing the dual-mode radio system.
Reports to: Vice President, RF & Radar Systems
Location: Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Position Type: Full time engineer
Responsibilities:
- Link budget analysis, field verification, and optimization of communication system
- Mesh network implementation, testing, and optimization
- Link budget analysis, field verification, and optimization of radar system
- Participate in dual-mode radar and communications module design and verification
- Participate in antenna testing and automation
- Potential design and verification work with SDR and/or FPGA
- Potential phased array antenna optimization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 0-5 years of wireless communications circuit and system design and test
- Knowledge of RF components such as amplifiers, filters, mixers, and passive components
- Knowledge of basic RF systems
- Software experience including C, Python, and Matlab
- Experience with FPGAs and/or SDRs is a plus
- Experience with circuits at millimeter wave frequencies is a plus
- Electromagnetic fields and waves training is required. Basic antenna concepts are required. Experience with phased arrays and/or radar is a plus.
