We are seeking an Embedded Network Engineer to help design, develop, and test industry-leading radar and communications technology as part of the MatrixSpace Federal Systems team. The role will span the technology development lifecycle including requirements generation, software design and implementation, integration, validation, and field test.
The successful candidate will use their embedded C/C++ and Linux experience to design and improve edge-deployed network communication features. Network protocols, real-time operating systems, and wireless communications experience is desirable.
The role is part of a growing, innovative product development team and we are looking for engineers to be immediately integrated into design teams to solve difficult technical problems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize a mesh communication system in embedded Linux to enable new CONOPS for MatrixSpace systems.
- Perform trade studies to recommend software networking libraries that meet design criteria.
- Learn and understand current radar architecture to better advise on trades between radar and mesh configurations.
- Integrate networking operations with existing system architecture.
- Add supporting capability to the networking infrastructure to make advanced mesh communications possible.
- Design and conduct network performance tests in the field to validate feature performance in nominal and degraded environments
- Debug existing software and correct defects. Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
- Participate in radar and communications module requirements setting for future products.
- Contribute to research and development that fuels innovation and technological advancements, especially by researching emerging mesh technologies.
- Work to optimize the embedded system performance to increase our information throughput.
Requirements:
Minimum:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical/ Computer Engineering.
- 3 – 8 years of experience in software development or embedded engineering.
- Experience with multiple programming languages (C/C++, Python, etc.).
- Experience with IEEE 802.11 wireless network protocols, especially in a Linux stack.
- Familiarity of Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (WANETs) such as B.A.T.M.A.N, AODV, or ZRP.
- Demonstrated success in resolution of technical challenges leveraging strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Agile development using Atlassian tools.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
- Willing to travel, up to 20%.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Bonus:
- Demonstrated implementation of WAMET or FANET network.
- Multi-domain experience including radar phenomenology, Android interfaces, or distributed orchestration.
- Experience with network simulation tools, like ns-3.
- Familiarity with Team Awareness Kit (TAK).
- Current security clearance.
